Damian Pavlinovich Principal AEP

Principal Exercise Physiologist

In 1994 I completed my Sports Science degree at Edith Cowan University and have been working in the health, fitness, and rehabilitation arena ever since.

What excites me about being an Exercise Physiologist is helping people become pain free and seeing them return to being active, healthy and happy. One of the barriers to being active and healthy is pain or injury, I know as I suffered a debilitating lower back injury in my late 20s.

Exercise Rehabilitation didn’t really exist when I suffered my back injury, as such I dedicated my work to ensuring that I deliver best practise Exercise Rehabilitation to patients. I have focused my attention on the how, what and why of Exercise Rehabilitation utilising the principles of Kinetic Chain Activation Rehabilitation.

This has superseded core strength training as the modern, innovative method for Exercise Rehabilitation.

In brief, my experience includes:

Sports Medicine Australia (WA)

The ‘Safer Sport” Community Education Program.

Developing, delivering and refining a variety of sport injury prevention courses and seminars on the prevention and management of sporting injuries. The program was highly successful with amateur sporting clubs embracing the education course leading to reduced injury rates and better treatment outcomes for participants.

Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) (Open Arms)

Heart Health Program for Vietnam Veterans.

Developed, implemented and delivered this program across Western Australia

This was a multiple faceted intervention aimed at improving the health outcomes of Vietnam Veterans. The program was run between 2000 – 2007 here in WA and was highly successful with over 90% of participants recording improved mental and physical health outcomes during and after their participation. And it was lots of fun!

Como Health and Fitness Centre (now Como Fitness 24/7)

Principle Exercise Physiologist

Through my 17 years at Como Fitness 24/7 I have assisted my patients and customers to be healthier, happier and fitter. I enjoy using my expertise and experience to problem solve what can be complex and difficult cases.

Kaart Koort Program

Derbyl Yerrigan Health Service – Curtin University

More recently I have been involved with delivering the exercise component of the Kaart Koort Program.

A research program with a multiple faceted intervention aimed at improving the health outcomes of Aboriginal people.
